About Polihale State Park
A stretch of remote beach several miles long runs along the western shore of Kauaʻi, marking the most western publicly accessible point in the state, since only privately held Niʻihau lies further out. Access is by a poorly marked dirt sugarcane road, where a four-wheel drive vehicle is preferable. Along the shoreline, only the section called Queen's Pond is considered safe for swimming.
