About Mounds State Park
Ten ceremonial mounds built by the prehistoric Adena culture stand within the park, later used by Hopewell culture inhabitants centuries after their construction. The earthworks represent Native American heritage tied to these two indigenous cultures of eastern North America. This park is a distinct property from the similarly named Mounds State Recreation Area, and it draws about 400,000 visitors each year.
