About Ambrose A. Call State Park
Named for the first European settler to arrive in the area, this 138-acre preserve protects rugged, old-growth forested hills along the East Fork of the Des Moines River. The terrain remains uneven rather than flat, reflecting the land as it stood before settlement. Its wooded slopes rise directly from the riverbank, marking the ground tied to that early history.
