About Pilot Knob State Park
Roots reach back to 1923, making this one of the earliest additions to Iowa's state park system. A cluster of structures within its boundaries gained recognition as a historic district in the early 1990s, and five separate buildings hold individual spots on the National Register of Historic Places. That density of listed structures in one park area reflects the depth of building history preserved here alongside the natural land.
