About Myre-Big Island State Park

Former Minnesota State Senator Helmer Myre lent his name to this park when it was known as Helmer Myre State Park. The site spans 1,578 acres and safeguards 8 miles of shoreline along Albert Lea Lake. Its core is Big Island, a 117-acre landmass joined to the mainland by a causeway, which in turn connects by a second causeway to Little Island.
