About My Old Kentucky Home State Park

Federal Hill, the mansion at the center of the grounds, was built as a plantation home for United States Senator John Rowan starting in 1795. Under the Rowan family, the house became a gathering place for local politicians and a stop for visiting dignitaries. The estate now forms the core of the park, preserving the senator's former residence as its main feature.
