About Ames Nowell State Park

Stone walls, two wagon bridges, and two quarries dating to the 1600s and 1700s trace the colonial-era use of this 612-acre public recreation area. The Department of Conservation and Recreation manages the land, which preserves these old structures scattered across its acreage. The layout gives visitors physical remnants of early settlement activity rather than reconstructed or interpreted sites.
