About Blue Mounds State Park
A bison herd grazes here on one of Minnesota's largest surviving stretches of native prairie. The park was set up to protect both the animals and the grassland they depend on, giving visitors a chance to see open prairie largely as it once existed across the region. The land itself forms part of the rock outcrop for which the park is named.
