About Gantry Plaza State Park

Twelve acres of former dockyard and manufacturing land along the East River make up this waterfront site. The grounds retain structures from that industrial past, most notably a set of gantries with car float transfer bridges that once let barges move freight railcars between Queens and Manhattan. These remnants stand as the park's central feature rather than being incidental decoration.
