About Alum Creek State Park
4,630 acres of land surround a reservoir built by damming Alum Creek between 1970 and 1974 as part of a federal flood control project. The lake itself covers 3,387 acres and is used for fishing, boating, ice fishing, ice boating, and swimming. Within the park's grounds are the remains of a settlement established by freed slaves who had arrived in Ohio from North Carolina.
