About Robbers Cave State Park
More than 8,000 acres of hilly woodland in the Sans Bois Mountains make up this park and its adjoining wildlife management area, a stretch of terrain that includes three lakes. Sandstone cliffs draw climbers and rappellers, while trails accommodate hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians, and seasonal trout fishing and boating are also part of the offerings. The park was originally called Latimer State Park before being renamed in 1936, and its cave is tied to outlaw history, having served as a hideout for Belle Starr and Jesse James.
