About Lehigh Gorge State Park

A river-carved gorge runs the length of this park, following the Lehigh River from a flood control dam built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers down to Jim Thorpe. The land spans 4,548 acres across Luzerne and Carbon Counties, protecting the steep-walled corridor cut by the river. Visitors find a landscape defined by that gorge and the water moving through it, with the terrain shaped around the river's path rather than open fields or standing forest alone.
