12,539 acres of land run along the Mississippi River, taking in two bodies of water, Poplar Tree Lake and Lake Piersol. A museum and nature center on the grounds honors Edward J. Meeman, a conservationist who once edited the Memphis Press-Scimitar. Among all of Tennessee's state parks, this one draws the highest number of visitors.
