About Snow Canyon State Park
Red and white Navajo sandstone walls form the canyon at the center of this landscape, cut through terrain that also holds the remains of the extinct Santa Clara Volcano. Lava tubes and hardened lava flows sit alongside sand dunes within the same grounds, all part of the larger Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. The mix of volcanic rock and sandstone formations gives visitors both geologic features to explore in one area.
