About Douthat State Park
A 50-acre lake sits at the center of 4,545 acres spread across the Allegheny Mountains, straddling both Bath and Alleghany counties. The acreage makes this the third-largest state park in Virginia, behind only Pocahontas and Fairy Stone. It was one of six original state parks built in Virginia during the 1930s, constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
