About Alta Lake State Park
220-acre Alta Lake sits at the base of stone cliffs carved by glaciation, rising 1000 feet above the valley floor toward Old Goat Mountain, which towers 4200 feet over the park itself. The park covers 181 acres at the lake's northern end, reached by a two-mile road off State Route 153 along the Methow River. It is managed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission.
