About Jones Island Marine State Park

The island took its name from naval officer Jacob Jones, given by the Wilkes Expedition in 1841. The park covers the entire 188-acre island, one mile west of Orcas Island's southwestern corner, and has no resident population. Reaching it requires a boat, since there is no land access to the shore.
