Named for Frederick D. Stuart, a clerk who served under explorer Charles Wilkes, this marine park covers 433 acres of land and waterways on and around Stuart Island. It functions as a camping area reachable only by water, part of the Washington State Park System's network of marine parks. The acreage spans both the island itself and the surrounding water, making it as much a boating destination as a place to pitch a tent.
