About Monte Sano State Park

Rustic cottages built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s still stand among the hiking trails and picnic areas here, spread across 2,140 acres on the top and slopes of Monte Sano Mountain. Scenic overlooks along the trails give views from the mountain, and modern campsites sit alongside the older structures. The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources manages the grounds.
