About Cathedral Caverns State Park

A cave once known as Bats Cave anchors this 493-acre preserve in Kennamer Cove. Developed as a tourist attraction in the 1950s, the cavern was named a National Natural Landmark in 1972, decades before the surrounding land became a state park. The designation protects both the cave system and the cove landscape around it.
