About Fort Humboldt State Historic Park

From 1853 to 1870, this site served as a U.S. Army fort overlooking Humboldt Bay from a bluff. Displays cover contact between European Americans and Native Americans during that period, along with logging equipment and narrow gauge railroad history from the region. The collection includes trains, a working Steam Donkey engine, and a Native American dug-out canoe. The North Coast regional headquarters of the California State Parks system operates from this location.
