Three lagoons with their estuaries and wetlands make up the protected area here, stretched along the Redwood Coast between Trinidad and Orick. The park sits along U.S. Route 101, giving access to this string of coastal water bodies and surrounding wetland habitat. It has protected this combination of lagoons and marsh terrain since 1931.
