About Sherwood Island State Park

238 acres of beach, wetlands, and woodlands make up this shoreline preserve on Long Island Sound. It was the first piece of land Connecticut acquired for its state park system, with the purchase beginning in 1914. Visitors can swim and fish along the sound, and the grounds are managed by the state's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
