St. James Island's eastern cape gives the park its name, marking the point where land meets Ochlockonee Bay. The site sits on Alligator Point off U.S. 98, bordered by the bay to the north and the Gulf beyond, making it the closest beach to Tallahassee. Its address, 146 Box Cut, places it on the low, sandy peninsula that separates bay water from open gulf.
