About Fort Cooper State Park

A stockade built by soldiers during the Second Seminole War once stood on this ground, and the 710 acres surrounding it were later placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The park preserves that fortification site along with the surrounding land near Lake Holathlikaha. Its size and the documented military history behind it set the terms for what visitors come to see, rather than any built-up recreational facilities.
