About Letchworth-Love Mounds Archaeological State Park

A mound complex built during the Woodland period rises on a low sandy ridge near Lake Miccosukee's southwestern shore, spread across nearly 190 acres. Mound 1 reaches about 49 feet, the tallest surviving prehistoric Native American earthwork in Florida. The site is catalogued in the Florida Master Site File under the Smithsonian trinomial 8JE337 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.
