About Jefferson Davis State Historic Site
A 351-foot concrete obelisk marks the birthplace of Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederate States of America, in Fairview. As of 1973, the monument was considered the fourth-tallest in the United States and the tallest built of cast concrete. The structure serves as the focal point of the site, which commemorates the location of his birth.
