The Red River runs through the center of this 26 acre historic area, which sits on the line between Montgomery and Robertson counties. The park preserves the site of the town of Port Royal, which operated from 1797 until its post office closed in 1940. Its history covers the early development of Tennessee and the Red River Valley, along with connections to the Trail of Tears and the Black Patch Tobacco Wars.
