About Bradbury Mountain State Park
Managed by Maine's Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, this 730-acre tract in the town of Pownal was set aside as a public recreation area, one of the earliest additions to the state park system after its 1939 founding. The mountain for which it is named gives the park its recreational focus, offered as open land for public use rather than for the timber or farming purposes common to the surrounding countryside.
