About Lake Lorraine State Park

A sand beach along the southern shore of Lake Lorraine once drew swimmers and anglers to this small property in the Indian Orchard neighborhood of Springfield. Restrooms served visitors during those years, but the state stopped staffing the grounds in 2009, citing budget cuts, and closed public access. The property was later handed over for use by the Environmental Police as a satellite headquarters, a change made without public announcement.
