About Van Buren Trail State Park

A 14-mile unimproved rail trail follows a former railroad right-of-way between Hartford and South Haven, cutting through flat farmland and stretches of trees. Hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders use the corridor in warmer months, while snowmobilers take it over in winter. The route stays level for its entire length, with no significant grade changes along the old rail bed.
