About St. Joe State Park

Old lead mine tailings dumps form the base of an 8,243-acre recreation area, with 2,000 acres set aside for off-road vehicle riding. The grounds also hold the Missouri Mines State Historic Site, where former St. Joe Minerals mill buildings now house a museum of geology and mining. Beyond the ORV area, visitors can find camping facilities and trails set up for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding along the flanks of the Saint Francois Mountains.
