About Elephant Rocks State Park
Precambrian granite boulders lined up like a train of pink circus elephants give this park its name. The rock outcropping sits within the Saint Francois Mountains, land that geologist Dr. John Stafford Brown gave to the state to form the reserve. Visitors use the site for picnicking, rock climbing, and walking its trails through the granite formations.
