About Wawayanda State Park

A 34,350-acre tract spanning both Sussex and Passaic Counties, straddling Vernon Township and West Milford, forms the base of this park. Sixty miles of hiking trails wind through the property, including a 20-mile segment of the Appalachian Trail. Maintenance of these paths falls to the New York - New Jersey Trail Conference, while the state's Division of Parks and Forestry oversees the land itself.
