About Conkle's Hollow State Nature Preserve

100 feet wide in places, the gorge at Conkle's Hollow cuts deep enough to be considered by some the deepest in Ohio, with cliffs rising about 200 feet above it. The valley floor holds ferns, hemlock, and various wildflowers along its length. The preserve sits within Hocking Hills State Park, occupying a narrow, steep-walled cut into the surrounding rock.
