About Independence Dam State Park

Ruins of the Miami and Erie Canal remain within the park's 591 acres along the Maumee River. The land protects this canal-era remnant while also serving as a recreation area with boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and primitive camping. It was established in 1949 on the riverbank terrain that once supported the historic waterway.
