About Prompton State Park
Officially undeveloped, this 2,000-acre tract in Clinton and Dyberry Townships has never had active management from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources since it was set aside in 1962. A grassroots group, Friends of Prompton State Park, has been working toward taking over its operation, following the model used at Salt Springs State Park in Susquehanna County. The grounds remain open to visitors, and Northeast Sports Ltd. of Honesdale sponsors outdoor sports events held there.
