About Dreher Island State Recreation Area
The largest island in Lake Murray forms the core of this recreation area, surrounded entirely by the reservoir's 50,000 acres of water. The lake itself was created along the Saluda River, and the park occupies the full landmass of that island. Its location in central South Carolina places it about 30 miles from Columbia.
