About Allis State Park

Wallace S. Allis willed his Bear Mountain Farm to Vermont for use as a campground and recreation area, making this the state's second park when it was created. The Civilian Conservation Corps developed the grounds starting in 1932, building the access roads, a picnic shelter, picnic grounds and a campground. A fire and lookout tower stands on Bear Hill, and the park has picnic tables, grills and fireplaces.
