About Holliday Lake State Park

A 150-acre lake formed by a dam anchors this park, built during the Depression by Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration crews. The surrounding land was farmed in the 1880s before it was allowed to return to forest in the mid-20th century, and the park now sits within the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. Once considered an emergency landing spot for float planes, the lake today is used mainly for fishing.
