About Powhatan State Park

Two miles of riverfront line the James River within this park's 1,565 acres. Before becoming public land, the property served the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice, and it took a decade to convert it into a state park, finally opening in 2013. The size and river frontage give visitors a stretch of undeveloped shoreline to explore.
