About Yakima Sportsman State Park
266 acres of Yakima River floodplain make up this park, forming a green stretch within a surrounding desert landscape. The land was first developed in the early 1940s by the Yakima Valley Sportsman's Association before being handed over to the state in 1945. Activities on site include camping, hiking, picnicking, fishing, and birdwatching, all centered on the river running through the grounds.
