About Big Bay State Park
Sandstone bluffs and caves line the shore here, on Madeline Island, the largest of the 22 Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. The 2,350-acre park has a 1.5-mile sand beach and encloses lakeside dunes, sphagnum bogs, and old-growth forest. Bald eagles return each year to nest and raise their young within the park.
