About Lake Fort Smith State Park
A dam and spillway project flooded the original 1930s lakeside site, so the current 260-acre park reopened in 2008 about four miles from where it first stood. The grounds include 30 campsites, 10 cabins, a group lodge, a marina with rental boats and a double lane boat ramp, plus a swimming pool and playground. An 8,000-square-foot visitor center adds an exhibit gallery, a gift shop, and a patio with a wood-burning fireplace facing the lake and surrounding mountains.
