About Año Nuevo State Park

Pinniped rookeries on Año Nuevo Island and Año Nuevo Point led to this stretch of coast being set aside for protection, with a separate natural reserve unit folded into the park in October 2008. The land is a low, rocky, windswept point extending into the Pacific Ocean. It also marks the coastal geographic center of California, at the northern end of the park.
