About Gay City State Park

A 19th-century mill settlement once stood on this land along the Blackledge River, and traces of that abandoned town remain scattered through the park today. The 1,569-acre property spans the towns of Hebron and Bolton, bordering Meshomasic State Forest, and includes a millpond, marshland, and deep forest reached from State Route 85. It is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
