About Hardman Farm State Historic Site

Capt. James Nichols built the main Italianate mansion in 1870 and added a gazebo atop Nacoochee Mound, a Native American burial mound, in 1890. His daughter Anna Ruby Nichols later gave her name to Anna Ruby Falls. Beyond the house and mound, the grounds hold a kitchen building, a horse barn, a dairy barn, and a spring house, preserving the working farm's outbuildings alongside the family's residence.
