About White Pines Forest State Park

385 acres of forest hold the southernmost remaining stand of native white pine trees in Illinois. A 43-acre section of that stand was designated an Illinois Nature Preserve in 2001. The park sits near the communities of Polo, Mount Morris and Oregon, preserving a species of tree that does not grow naturally any farther south in the state.
