About Cunningham Falls State Park

A cascading waterfall drops here that ranks as the largest of its kind in Maryland, feeding into a 43-acre man-made lake within the park boundaries. The grounds also hold the remains of a historic iron furnace, a trace of earlier industrial use of the land. The park sits along Catoctin Mountain, a 50-mile ridge shared with neighboring protected tracts, bordered by Catoctin Mountain Park to the north and Frederick Municipal Forest to the south.
