Named for Codorus Creek, the park was built around Lake Marburg, an artificial lake the creek forms by covering 1,275 acres. The surrounding land totals 3,500 acres, spread across Heidelberg, Manheim, Penn, and West Manheim Townships. Pennsylvania Route 216 runs through the park, which sits a few miles from the borough of Hanover.
